This annual golf benefit tournament, held on November 9th, 2024, will be played in honor of Charles Arnold “Chuck” Rodgers, 97, who passed away in February, 2024.

Cassy’s will be on-course painting live throughout the tournament, capturing Winchester Country Club’s par four, 267-yard Hole #10. Stricker, also a philanthropist, created the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation to show young people that their dreams are not only attainable, but worth the effort.

Cassy’s grandfather is a World War II veteran and her late father, Tim Tully, was also a veteran and proud patriot.

“I am inspired to partner with Links to Freedom for the first time,” Cassy said. “Our wounded warriors and veterans deserve the value and hope that this tournament, event and auction provide. It is my mission to use my art to make a difference in the lives of others, and painting to benefit the wounded warriors, veterans and families through Links to Freedom is a perfect match for my passion as a painter and philanthropist.”

According to Links to Freedom, there are currently over 3.7 million disabled veterans in the U.S., many of whom struggle to find a sense of normalcy and a way to reconnect with civilian life and their families.

The Veterans Day Golf Benefit was established by the Winchester Country Club to raise funds for Links to Freedom. Held every Veterans Day weekend, it has raised over $250,000 for the program.

Cassy Tully Creates Painting Honoring 2024 VGA National Championship

The Veteran Golfers Association hosted their National Championship on September 15 - 19, 2024, at Grandover Resort & Spa, Greensboro, North Carolina. At the heart of the resort are two 18-hole courses, East & West, designed by noted golf course architects David Graham and the late Gary Panks.

For the fourth year in a row, the VGA has commissioned Cassy Tully, golf artist and philanthropist, to create an 18 X 24” painting of these beautiful championship courses. Under an azure sky, her painting depicts the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, which took place near present-day Greensboro, NC, on March 15, 1781. The setting is overlaid on the course, the fairway’s resplendent greens a vibrant backdrop to the soldiers’ uniforms.

At this decisive battle, the British army engaged a Continental army under the command of Major General Nathanael Greene. Cassy’s placement of Greene shows his commanding figure leading his men, who are poised to fight.

This painting will also be reproduced as Limited Edition Commemorative Prints, signed and numbered. Cassy was pleased to attend the VGA - Champions Dinner, a wonderful opportunity for guests to meet her, have prints personalized, and learn more about her championship golf artwork.

Cassy recently created original artwork for the University of Alabama; Yellowstone Country Club; the Milwaukee Brewers' 50th Anniversary, and the NFL Hall of Fame. Her championship golf art includes working with the PGA of America, PGA Reach, Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation, United States Golf Association, and the Arnold Palmer Foundation.

The VGA is dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans and their family members through the camaraderie and sportsmanship of golf. Annually, the VGA hosts more than 450 local tournaments across the country, culminating in a VGA National Championship each fall.

The impact of these events on Veterans and their loved ones is tremendous,” Cassy said. “Being part of the patriotism and ongoing support of the VGA in bringing together Veterans and the wider golf community is inspiring.”
