Cassy Tully Creates Painting Honoring 2024 VGA National Championship

The Veteran Golfers Association hosted their National Championship on September 15 - 19, 2024, at Grandover Resort & Spa, Greensboro, North Carolina. At the heart of the resort are two 18-hole courses, East & West, designed by noted golf course architects David Graham and the late Gary Panks.

For the fourth year in a row, the VGA has commissioned Cassy Tully, golf artist and philanthropist, to create an 18 X 24” painting of these beautiful championship courses. Under an azure sky, her painting depicts the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, which took place near present-day Greensboro, NC, on March 15, 1781. The setting is overlaid on the course, the fairway’s resplendent greens a vibrant backdrop to the soldiers’ uniforms.

At this decisive battle, the British army engaged a Continental army under the command of Major General Nathanael Greene. Cassy’s placement of Greene shows his commanding figure leading his men, who are poised to fight.

This painting will also be reproduced as Limited Edition Commemorative Prints, signed and numbered. Cassy was pleased to attend the VGA - Champions Dinner, a wonderful opportunity for guests to meet her, have prints personalized, and learn more about her championship golf artwork.

Cassy recently created original artwork for the University of Alabama; Yellowstone Country Club; the Milwaukee Brewers' 50th Anniversary, and the NFL Hall of Fame. Her championship golf art includes working with the PGA of America, PGA Reach, Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation, United States Golf Association, and the Arnold Palmer Foundation.

The VGA is dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans and their family members through the camaraderie and sportsmanship of golf. Annually, the VGA hosts more than 450 local tournaments across the country, culminating in a VGA National Championship each fall.

The impact of these events on Veterans and their loved ones is tremendous,” Cassy said. “Being part of the patriotism and ongoing support of the VGA in bringing together Veterans and the wider golf community is inspiring.”

Artwork Presented for 2024 VGA North Regional Championship

I am pleased to grow my partnership benefitting the Veteran Golfers Association. I presented the artwork for the 2024 VGA North Regional Championship, which took place on August 26, 2024, at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, WV.

My original painting incorporates sand provided by Glade Springs into the paint. It was awarded to the regional champion, with a limited edition of prints provided to flight winners.

I wished all the participating veteran golfers the best of luck and now look forward to meeting qualifiers at Nationals in September.
